Hinsdale is one of the most design-conscious communities we work in. The village's historic blocks around downtown are full of Victorian, Tudor, and Colonial Revival homes from the late 1800s and early 1900s. Southeast of Ogden you'll find a growing collection of larger new construction that has replaced earlier teardowns. North of the train tracks, mid-century ranches and 1970s splits sit on tree-lined blocks. Each style brings its own kitchen-renovation expectations, and we tailor our work to fit the home and the family living in it.
Most Hinsdale kitchen renovations we run fall into one of three categories. The first is updating the primary kitchen in a historic downtown home — preserving original architectural details while modernizing layout, appliances, and millwork. The second is a full gut renovation in a mid-century or 1970s home where the original kitchen has long since aged out. The third is finishing the primary kitchen and butler's pantry in a newer construction or major addition where the previous choices no longer fit how the family lives.
These projects almost always involve an interior designer or architect. Our crews work alongside your design team end-to-end, handling the construction, structural engineering, plumbing, electrical, custom millwork, stone, and finish work in-house or with our long-time trade partners.
What our Hinsdale kitchen renovations typically include:
We pull every required permit through the Village of Hinsdale and coordinate inspections at every milestone. Our crews are familiar with the village's expectations, the historic-district guidelines that apply to some of the downtown blocks, and the noise ordinances that apply to weekday construction.
Pricing for a Hinsdale kitchen renovation reflects the scope and finish level of the projects. A primary kitchen renovation with custom millwork, stone counters, and a full Sub-Zero/Wolf appliance package typically runs $150,000 to $300,000. Larger projects that include butler's pantries, prep kitchens, mudrooms, and adjacent-space work run $300,000 to $600,000+. Every estimate is line-item written with material allowances, labor breakdowns, and a clear timeline.
Most full Hinsdale kitchen renovations take twelve to sixteen weeks from demolition to final walk-through, with cabinetry lead time often being the gating factor. Fully custom cabinetry typically takes twelve to sixteen weeks to build, and we schedule demo and rough work to overlap with the cabinet build so the project doesn't sit waiting.
If you live in Hinsdale and you are thinking about a kitchen renovation, we would love to come walk through the space with you. We will give you an honest assessment of what is possible, a realistic budget range, and a clear path forward.
Recently Completed
We recently finished a full kitchen and butler's pantry renovation in a 1915 Colonial Revival on Garfield Avenue in Hinsdale. The owners had purchased the home a year earlier and were ready to gut the dated 1990s kitchen that no longer fit the architecture or how their family lives.
We removed the wall between the original kitchen and the breakfast room, installed a steel beam, and reconfigured the layout around a 10-foot center island with seating for four. The cabinetry is custom inset Shaker-style in painted Benjamin Moore Simply White with unlacquered brass hardware. Counters are honed Calacatta Gold marble with a full-height slab backsplash behind the 48-inch Wolf range. We installed a 36-inch Sub-Zero column refrigerator, a Sub-Zero column freezer, integrated Miele dishwashers, and a panel-ready 30-inch beverage center.
The adjacent butler's pantry was rebuilt with floor-to-ceiling glass-front cabinetry, a prep sink, an under-counter Sub-Zero refrigerator drawer, and a built-in Miele espresso machine. Original oak floors throughout the first floor were sanded and refinished, plaster walls were repaired, and original window casings were restored. The full project took fourteen weeks including Village of Hinsdale permit and inspections. The owners told us it now feels like the kitchen the home was always meant to have.
