We recently wrapped up a primary bathroom remodel in a 1920s greystone on Roscoe Street, just east of Halsted. The original bathroom had been "updated" in the early 2000s with builder-grade tile and a corner shower that the owners had outgrown. They wanted a real spa space without losing the original window over the bathtub.
Our crew gutted the room down to the studs, repaired water-damaged subfloor, and reframed the wet zone to make room for a curbless walk-in shower with a linear drain. We installed a freestanding 60-inch soaking tub directly under the original window, tiled the walls and floor in large-format porcelain with a marble-look pattern, and built a 48-inch floating walnut vanity with an integrated quartz top. We also added in-floor radiant heat and a heated towel bar.
The full project took five weeks from demolition to final walk-through, including the City of Chicago permit and inspection. The owners told us it now feels like a hotel suite at home.
